Civil Liberties Organization Disowns Pro-Patience Jonathan Protesters

The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) has disowned some individuals who carry the organization’s placards during public protests, insisting that the protesters are not members of the CLO. In a statement released today and signed by its president, Uche Wisdom Durueke, the CLO stated that its leadership had become aware of “a recent protest where certain individuals, in order to cause mischief, carried placards bearing CIVIL LIBERTIES ORGANIZATIONS,” adding, “those individuals are not members of the CIVIL LIBERTIES ORGANIZATION.”

Five Top Kogi Officials Arrested For Allegedly Diverting N230m Pension Fund

Five top civil servants in Kogi have been arrested for allegedly diverting N230 million pension fund to their private uses. The Accountant-General of the state, Yusuf Okala, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja on Sunday.
Mr. Okala, who is also the Chairman of the Staff Screening and Verification Committee, said the alleged fraud was discovered in the course of the committee’s work.
“Yes, it is true. We have been able to recover N20 million from them through the efforts of the police command in the State,” Mr. Okala said.
Also, the state Auditor-General, Ahmed Ododo, said the money would be recovered in full from the suspects.

One killed, two women injured in Boko Haram attack

John Abayomi Boko Haram was on Sunday blamed for an attack on motorists in Monguno, Borno state which left one person dead and underlined the Islamist group’s continuing security threat to civilians.
Gunmen on Saturday opened fire on a convoy of vehicles travelling to the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, from the garrison town of Monguno, 140 kilometres (about 85 miles) to the northeast.
“They shot dead a driver and injured two women and a child travelling with him,” said bus driver Kabir Hassan, who arrived at the scene shortly after the attack.

Police arrest late Abubakar Audu’s son, family members in Kogi

The Police in Kogi state have arrested the son of late Kogi state governor, Abubakar Audu, Mohammed and about 15 other members of the late governor's family.
